Day at lakes

Yesterday mokoia intermediate went to lakes high school, each student chose a group to go in I chose group B, our first activity was art that was really cool because we did this printing and drawing activity then we did cooking and make CHOCOLATES it was so yummy and we also make cool as boxes to put the chocolates in. We also did gym and that was the best activity because we played this cool game called pirates there are 4 taggers and they have to try tag as many people as possible but your only aloud on the yellow lines and there are jungle gyms and high ropes and there is a trampoline in the middle and I was always the last one tug. We also did science and we dissected a dears eye (ew) and i had to blow into a tube that lead into dears lungs that I blew up like a balloon it was yuck as. We also did math and we had to do this math walk about it was cool except i don't know how long is a meter. Then we did languages with Mrs Johnson she was a bit weird I didn't pay much attention because by the end of gym i was tried as.

Over all i loved lakes high school.

year 8 speeches

On Tuesday 3rd of September Puarenga had a speech competition it was really cool the year 8 contestants were Anais Finn Hayden and Sarah. Finn did his speech on why he hates cockroaches it was really funny and he did really good. Anais did hers on why you shouldn't eat fast food it was really informative. Hayden did his on New Zealand it was funny as and Sarah did hers on why you should always where a helmet while riding a bike. In the end the finalist that are going on to the school speeches were Finn and Anais.

Stormbreaker

P4 has been reading the book Storm breaker by Anthony Horowitz and we have watch the movie to compare between the movie and the book I believe that the book was amazing I loved it but the moving is what I describe as cheesy and rubbish.

In the book the main characters it Alex Rider, Herod Sayle, Nadia Rol and Mr grim. Alex is a 13 year old boy that lives with his Uncle Ian rider and Jack the housekeeper. In the movie the main characters are Alex Rider, Darios Sayle and Nadia Rol the movie is about the same with the characters but the way they describe the characters in the book is totally different in the movie.

The book is about Alex rider his parents died in a car crash and he was living with his Uncle Ian rider, Ian rider was a spy working for M16 spy agency he goes on many daring adventures. Alex has to go on a special mission to find out when herald sayle is doing to the storm breaker. He trains with the K Unit in the M16 before he goes out for his adventure to sayle enterprises.

The highlights in the book is when he goes through dozmary mine in pitch black darkness more than 50 meters underground following the footsteps of Ian rider. But in the movie it is just. Alex crawling through a tunnel also when Alex was trapped in a fish tank with a  deadly jellyfish I was scared and hoping he would make it out alive with his zit cream that seemed harmless but got Alex away from the horrible jellyfish.

I prefer the book over the movie it is more exciting and has more detail but the movie does explain who the people are and what they do. The book is great i love how descriptive it is it’s one of those movies that lets you imagine exactly who the character is or where the scene is.

Both the movie and the book are good but the book is definitely the best i recommend this this book for future adventurer’s that like a good action book or movie.

Good points

Mine craft is a fun game that expands your imagination,  you can also build houses on creative mode or fight zombies in survival. You can use a range of different blocks like wood stone diamond and much more. It is also educational using maths using some perimeter and area. It is a very fun activity that you can do on a rainy day , you can also have your whole class on mine craft in your own server

Bad points

In mine craft it is easy for people online to destroy things you have made. Also it can cause arguments because people are grieving and using TNT  . Plus it can get annoying if your computer is slow and it has a glitch and all your stuff is gone. Mine craft is also very addictive and wastes your parents money. My has had many problems because of Mine craft because people aren’t using it properly.

History of minecraft

Minecraft was invented by Markus Persson and the development started around May 10, 2009, and pre-orders for the full game started being accepted on June 13, 2009. Minecraft's official release date was November 18, 2011. On April 5, 2013, Minecraft for the computer reached 10 million sales.

I like Minecraft the different world where you can build amazing things.

Term 2 Goals

The Hatchet

During the beginning of term 1 our class read the Hatchet it was a very touching but exciting story. The story was about a boy called Brian who was in a plain crash while he was on the way to his dads house. He had to survive in the wild with nothing but a Hatchet that his mum gave him. While he was in the wild he had come across many animals a bear, lots of itchy bites , a skunk and a moose. The ending bit was the best Mrs Harvey Cried at the beauty of the book.

Science in P4

Yesterday P4 had science we mad lava lamps. My lab partners were Thomas and Sam , we decided to test which fizzy stuff and different oils would work the best out of barocca or panadol rapid and kanola oil or rice bran. The results were that panadol rapid with rice bran worked the best it had bigger bubbles and it lasted the longest. It was amazing :)

Norm Hweitt

On Tuesday 26th of March the ex-all black Norm Hewitt that now works at the SPCA came to our school and talked about animals. He talked about the five rules of freedom and his childhood, also how he won dancing with the stars in 2005. He was very inspirational and funny it was a very AWESOME!!!!! I loved it.
